OS ANGELES (AP) — What would it sound like if 15 of the hottest female singers joined voices? The answer will be revealed Sept. 2.

That’s when “Just Stand Up” hits airwaves and iTunes. The song features Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood. All sales of the star-studded single will benefit cancer research.

The charity tune was conceived by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who produced it with longtime creative colleague Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.

All 15 singers will share the stage to perform the song live on Sept. 5 during the “Stand Up to Cancer” television special, set to air simultaneously on ABC, NBC and CBS. Other stars expected to turn out for the hourlong fund- and awareness-raising program include Jennifer Aniston, Lance Armstrong, Katie Couric, Sally Field, Salma Hayek, Meryl Streep, Forest Whitaker and Reese Witherspoon.

Founded in 2007, Stand Up to Cancer is a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation that calls on entertainment-industry people and platforms to help fight cancer.

Leona Lewis is not designing a new fashion range for the high street store Topshop, Gigwise can reveal.

A report in today’s Sun newspaper claimed that the former X-Factor winner was to meet the store’s founder, Sir Philip Green, to discuss a deal later this month.

The deal would, according to the paper, see Lewis follow in the footsteps of Topshop’s most high profile clothes designer, supermodel Kate Moss.

But, speaking to Gigwise, a spokeswoman for Topshop has insisted that the paper’s claims are “unsubstantiated.”

“[There is] nothing in place, no plans have been made,” she added.

Lewis, who won X-Factor in 2007, has enjoyed continued success in both the UK and America since the release of her debut album ‘Spirit’.

The album topped the charts in both countries – and Lewis is tipped to take the record on the road in 2009.

Leona Lewis, Duffy and The Ting Tings are amongst the acts nominated for a special British prize at September’s MTV Music Video Awards in the US.

The pop acts go up against Coldplay and Estelle in the Best UK Video category, with the winner decided by public vote.

It has already been announced that comic Russell Brand, who caused a stir when he hosted the 2007 Brit Awards, will present the show.

The ceremony takes place at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on 7 September.

Nominations for the VMAs are being revealed on a weekly basis in the run-up to the awards.

Britney Spears, who made a shambolic “comeback” performance at last year’s show, stands to win best female video for her hit single Piece Of Me.

She faces competition from Jordin Sparks, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and R&B star Rihanna.

Among the male artists vying for a coveted moonman statuette are Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Usher, TI and Flo Rida.

Categories to be announced in the coming weeks include video of the year, best rock video, best new artist and best dancing in a video.

Hats off to Oirish rockers The Script for landing No3 in the charts — jumping a massive 27 places in a week.

Their single The Man Who Can’t Be Moved is on the radio non-stop. The Script lads have been performing at MTV Asia and bumped into Leona Lewis who agreed to record with them.

That combo sounds like a sure-fire chart No1 for all pop lovers.

Check out this clip taken from a new song Leona recorded with US rapper Cassidy, called ‘Nowhere Left To Go’. No one’s really sure where this song came from, possibly an unreleased track from the US edition of ‘Spirit’ but all I know is that I love the song and I hope the full track leaks soon!
